EVSEs can coordinate to keep the total current within site limits while still serving drivers.
What Is Load Balancing?
Load balancing lets multiple chargers share limited electrical capacity safely and efficiently. It prevents overloads, reduces or avoids costly service upgrades, and improves charger availability across MURBs, commercial sites, and fleets.
This can be done:
Offline (local): Chargers coordinate among themselves—no network required only for Watti Pro.
Online (cloud): The platform manages power across many chargers/panels/sites with remote policies.
Offline Load Balancing (Local)
Best for: Small groups on a shared circuit where you want simple, network-free power sharing.
How it works: Configure one Primary and up to four Secondary Watti Pro units on the same circuit. They automatically share the amperage the Primary allows (diagram on p.2).
-
Setup:
On the Primary, set the rotary switch to represent the circuit’s max output (e.g., 60A breaker → 48A).
On each Secondary, set the rotary to “F” (Secondary Mode).
Chargers will distribute power dynamically based on vehicle demand.
Why use it: Quick install, no networking, keeps total load within breaker limits.
FAQ
Q: How many chargers can share offline?
A: Up to five on one circuit (1 Primary + up to 4 Secondary).
